Roig Boig Ancestral

$26.00

This pét-nat has a light pink, slightly hazy hue with gentle bubbles, offering vibrant aromas of fresh apples, strawberries, raspberries, rose, thyme, and subtle citrus. On the palate, it’s bone-dry, medium-bodied, and juicy, with bright acidity, soft tannins, and flavors of red berries, dried mushroom, and chalky minerality. At 11.5% alcohol, it’s a refreshing wine, perfect as an aperitif or with sushi, seafood, or light dishes.

Description

Roig Boig Ancestral is a natural sparkling rosé wine from their Parellades de El Pla del Penedès estate in Catalonia’s Penedès region, Spain. This pétillant naturel (pét-nat) is a field blend of red and white native grape varieties, including Xarel·lo, Sumoll, Mandó, Cannonau, Mònica, and Parellada, sourced from a 1.5-hectare vineyard planted in 2006 on deep calcareous-clay soils at 280 meters altitude. Managed biodynamically with minimal intervention, the vines are hand-harvested in 10 kg boxes, with 90% direct-pressed and 10% macerated for four months to limit color and tannin extraction. Fermentation occurs with native yeasts in stainless steel, and the wine is bottled before fermentation completes to capture natural carbonation, unfiltered and without added sulfites.
