Pagès Content Negre

$26.00

This red has a bright ruby, slightly hazy hue, offering lively aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, dried herbs, and a hint of salinity. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied and vibrant, with soft tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of red fruit, earthy spice, and a chalky mineral finish. At 13% alcohol, it’s a juicy wine, ideal with charcuterie, grilled meats, or Mediterranean dishes.

Description

Pagès Content Negre is a natural red wine from their Parellades de El Pla del Penedès estate in Catalonia’s Penedès region, Spain. Crafted by Toni Carbó and Anna Serra, this blend features Sumoll (50%), Merlot (30%), and a mix of local red varieties like Xarel·lo, Mandó, Cannonau, Mònica, and Turbat (20%), sourced from biodynamic vineyards planted between 1970 and 2005 on clay-calcareous soils. Named “Happy Farmer” to honor traditional winegrowers, the grapes are hand-harvested in small boxes, with 50% whole-cluster foot-trodden and macerated for 15 days in clay amphorae, and 50% destemmed and macerated for 15 days in stainless steel. Fermentation occurs with native yeasts, and the wine ages for 12 months (50% in amphorae, 50% in stainless steel), bottled unfiltered, unfined, and without added sulfites.
